As hosts of the Lincolnshire Environmental Records Centre (LERC), we’re always excited when a project pops up that will feed data into LERC. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust has launched a new, to Lincolnshire, citizen science project called Beached! Lincolnshire. The project asks the public to record and identify marine life, shells, seaweed and other debris found along the strandline, the line of debris left behind at the highest point of the tide, on Lincolnshire’s coasts. The data the project collects will help to monitor seasonal changes in marine life, identify invasive, rare and climate change indicator species, compare strandline composition between different beaches and track mass stranding events all helping to build a clearer picture of marine biodiversity in Lincolnshire supporting vital conservation work.
