The GLNP recently attend the Lincolnshire Environmental Awards at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trusts Whisby Nature Park.

Congratulations to the Friends of Bottersford Beck Volunteers, winners of this year’s Lincolnshire Environmental Award. Their work has improved a 3.7-mile stretch of the beck and neighbouring path.

It was wonderful to hear the finalists speak with such passion about their projects and groups. We heard from the Friends of Bottesford Beck Environmental Volunteers and also Heckington Station Adopters, a dedicated group of volunteers who maintain, garden and care for Heckington Railway Station, Tealby Village Green Community Woodland, Meadow and Wildlife Project, a volunteer-led nature recovery initiative launched in 2020 to transform Tealby’s local green space and The Eco Glove, a youth environmental volunteer group helping to make North Lincolnshire greener.

The Lincolnshire Environmental Awards recognise, celebrate and reward communities caring for their local environment. The awards are organised by the Rotary Club of Lindum Lincoln and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, with sponsorship from Pennells Garden Centres.

Guests also had the opportunity to view newly unveiled plans to transform the Education Centre at Whisby Nature Park into the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Whisby HUB (Helping Understand Biodiversity).

Congratulations to all the finalists, it's great to see what is being done at a local level to do more for nature and people, we look forward to seeing what everyone does next.
