Greater Lincolnshire Natural Capital Account 2025

Greater Lincolnshire’s natural environment underpins its economy and the health and wellbeing of the people who live there, through the provision of ecosystem services. To illustrate the value of this the Greater Lincolnshire Nature Partnership (GLNP) has conducted a natural capital account for the area using the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital and Account Tool, which provides a conservative estimate of the value of Greater Lincolnshire’s natural environment beyond the important intrinsic value of nature.

Natural capital refers to elements of the natural environment (such as air, soil and biodiversity) which provide valuable goods and services (such as clean air, flood protection and good health) to people. Please note that a natural capital account can only reveal a partial value for nature, but aims to help highlight the importance of protecting and enhancing natural assets for the economy and society as a whole. The GLNP will seek to update these accounts regularly as more/further data becomes available.

Scorecards have been prepared for Greater Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire to showcase the key outputs of the accounts.
